We feel starved, but HE provides...

Original Oil on Canvas  30" x 40"  Titled: "Jireh"

Painting Titled: "Jireh" The Provider. I have always misinterpreted the expression starving artists and have held a deep resentment for it. I have always disagreed with the notion that artist, if they chose to make a living as artists, would starve. Well, after careful thinking I must agree, only because all artists, while they might be properly fed, they starve in other senses. As an artist are you ever starved of focus, inspiration, concentration, ideas, tranquility, prudence, industry, etc? We are all starved of one thing or another when we choose to trek through this uncertain trail. But God always provides... Buen provecho, starving artist!

Different interpretations of a single work of art.

As I published this painting on my website (www.OnesGallery.com) and other websites, here is what some of you wrote about your unique interpretation of it. I am very pleased with these contributions and encourage you to email me your interpretation of this and all other paintings.

Fanny P. - Orlando, FL
I see 'New Discoveries on the Horizon' in this painting, whether it's about life in general, discovering yourself, teaching others about life, or learning to discover a new found love, and seeing that come into play expecting only the best from that new arrival.

Ines R. - San Juan, PR
I fail to see any of us as a work in progress, but I do acknowledge that, in our remembrance of things long forgotten by means of the dense veils that cover us, we are not all that we can be; and the process of remembering will provide those horizons, not a limited vision. The boat is always there, ready to be boarded; the sea..perhaps calm, or perhaps troubled, but always ready to be conquered when there is a lack of fear..and the horizon, reminding us that there is nothing we cannot do if we set our mind to it. And the figures to the right of this exquisite and impressive beauty serve to remind us that we are all one; for in all truth, there is only one of us here.

Deborah M. - Miami, FL
sometimes, we spend so much time deciding if we should go or stay, that the opportunity to go dissappears. If you are luckiy you have someone who chooses to stay behind with you.

Alicia P. - San Juan, PR
Para mi la cara de la arena representa una persona pensativa. Idealizando las diferentes maneras de amor que existen en la vida. Veo el amor de parea, el amor de una madre para un hijo... Me encanta, esta precioso, que Dios te siga bendiciendo en tu arte.

Where is this spiral staircase going?

As some of you may know, I often paint live in front of an audience; Whether it is at the restaurant Cafe Tu Tu Tango or at various events I attend. People are fascinated by the creative process and while I was working on this painting, I received many compliments about this painting.

I don't usually share unfinished paintings through my website or blog, but I will make an exception this time. Many of the people that complimented me on this painting called it by a specific title. I would like to hear from you "what do you think was the name people gave this painting?"

Today I welcomed two friends to my studio and showed them this painting. They were very enthusiastic about how such a simple imagery could provoke such complex interpretations. I am curious to know "what is the message you derive from looking at this painting?"

Why "art with a purpose"?

Many of you at the shows have asked me "Why 'art with a purpose'?" The answer is that I feel that art can be a effective form of communication and inspiration. I feel blessed to have this talent and I want to make sure that I use it in a constructive way. So many things around us are destructive and art doesn't have to be one of them. Through the use of pictorial metaphors, I can share what I have learned in my life with other people. When people look at my art, I want them to be able to identify with the messages in each piece and feel inspired to continue growing and inspiring others. You might ask yourself "then, what's the purpose?" The purpose is to inspire and perpetuate the inspiration cycle. If you have been inspired by any of these paintings, please leave a comment or email me. I would love to hear from you.
